Pentecost gave us an extra day off. We booked a cabin for the long weekend in Epe. Which gave us the idea to visit the Apenheul again. We always love to go there and see what the monkeys are up to. Including our own! There are about 35 different species of primate about half of which roam freely among the visitors. When entering the park you also get a free map where you can scratch a box every time you see one of the monkeys. It’s a nice scavenger hunt and our kids loved it (and so did we).

Welcome to the Jungle
Last month we had a nice family day at the Burgers’ Zoo. I like this place because it’s more than just a zoo. They have different ecodisplays which will show the animals in their natural habitat. This way you can explore the jungle (bush), walk the dessert, dive into the ocean or find your way in the mangroves. There’s a lot to explore as you really become a part of the ecosystem. You’re right in the middle of it all.

Back on the road with the Canon for a change. Time to try out the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens some more. One of the reasons for buying this lens was to have a little more reach than what I was having. A Zoo is one of those places where those extra mm’s come in handy. A perfect place to see what this lens can do.
More Monkey Business
Perhaps it’s becoming a new tradition, but just like last year we visited the Apenheul. This time as a present for my niece’s birthday. When asked where she would like to go, this was her answer. So another trip was made to see some monkeys.
Monkey Business
Over here (and by here I mean The Netherlands) there are no monkeys living in the wild. Some of you might think differently and will simply tell me to have a look at some of my friends and family members. 🙂
And although indeed some people might have a lot in common with monkeys, they’re not actually one (so I’ve been told).
