Windmills, canals, tulips, cheese and wooden shoes. Add one or two more other items and you’ve pretty much get the picture what Holland is about. Or at least from a touristic point of view. 🙂
When friends and family that live abroad come over for a visit, we do our best to keep that reputation alive. So when Éva came to visit, we decided to combine Kinderdijk and Amsterdam in one day. A speed course of what The Netherlands is about so to speak. 🙂
First Kinderdijk. Once again we were back. Enjoying a walk and watching windmills.
It was halfway the afternoon already when we arrived in Amsterdam. We only did a quick tour walking from the Stopera to the Dam Square and back. The Stopera is a building that houses both the city hall of Amsterdam and the Dutch National Opera & Ballet. The name is a combination of two words. Stadhuis (city hall) and opera.
I have to disappoint you if you’re expecting photo’s of tulips, cheese and clogs here now. Don’t worry though, I didn’t leave the canals out. 🙂
Saturday was gone. Sunday would bring us to Antwerp, Belgium. Expect chocolate, fries and beer in the next post. Or maybe none of that. 🙂
