A funfair, right in the heart of the city. Last week we were in Breda to visit the carnival. I expected this post to be in color. After all there’s plenty of color to be seen at a funfair. Bright lights and neon signs everywhere. But when processing the images I actually preferred them in black and white (with one exception as you’ll see). That just seemed to work better in this case. Removing the distraction of all the colors and emphasizing the persons instead. Or maybe it’s just the look and feel of street photography that I love so much. Either way, here are some photos of last weekend.
A JE TO!
As a kid I loved Pat & Mat. Now, years later, my own son is watching the episodes over and over again (thanks to Netflix). And honestly I don’t mind it at all. I still enjoy watching Pat & Mat and seeing them solve their self-made problems. It’s hugely entertaining to me. We like them so much that we even went to the cinema and theater to see them. We are clearly in that phase now. 🙂
A Sunny Day In The Efteling
Blue skies and sunny weather. Last Sunday was mother’s day in Hungary. We thought it would be nice to take my mother in law to the Efteling and show her this magical place we’re always talking about. Especially nice this time of year because of all the flowers that are blooming.
We were a little afraid it would be really busy due to the school holiday. But luckily it wasn’t that busy and we could even do all the rides we had planned. Happy mother’s day!
Behind Bars
Not the first time. Probably not the last time either. Luckily we always find our way out again due to the best tour guide available. A couple of more shots from the prison. This time the inside of the dome is included as well. 😉
King’s Day 2018
King’s day! Which means a lot of people dress up in orange and go out to celebrate the King’s birthday. This year we had a special guest as Adri’s mom just arrived for two weeks. So we took her to Breda and showed her a little bit of the craziness that King’s day can be. This meant visiting ‘The vrijmarkt’ (literally ‘free market’). It’s a nationwide flea market, at which many people sell their used goods. It can’t get more Dutch than that on a King’s Day (although we should probably get some oranges shirts ourselves as well next time)!
A Beautiful April in Hungary
Not just any April. Simon’s first birthday and our wedding! Here are a couple of pictures looking back at that month.
