According to the website of the Efteling it would be a lively day in the park when we visited it last Saturday. Luckily they were wrong because as it turned out there were hardly any queues. We had some good weather on our side and while strolling though the park I managed to get some pictures.
Jail Time
For over 20 years my father used to work as a prison guard in the ‘Koepelgevangenis’ (Dome prison) Breda. The prison was built in the period between 1882 – 1886. It now no longer serves as a prison anymore but instead offers space for several activities to take place. One of those activities is a guided tour. My father now being of the tour guides. So I decided to join him on one of his tours. A perfect way to visit this iconic landmark of Breda and spending some time with my father.
Birthday Boy
Last Tuesday Iván turned 4. 4! Can you believe it?! The weekend before we celebrated his and my nephew’s birthday together (who has his birthday one day before Iván). On Tuesday we had another little small party at home. Four candles already. I just can’t wrap my head around it.
A Magical Day
Last weekend we finally managed to go to the Efteling again. The weather was a bit cold at times. But overall nice enough to be outside for a couple of hours. It was pretty busy so we skipped the long queues and just had a walk in the Fairytale Forest and enjoyed the merry-go-round. Just being there already brings a smile on our faces.
Race Cars and Castles
First post of 2018. But probably it should have been the last of 2017. Let’s hope 2018 will be more manageable with photo editing and blogging. When visiting Balázs and Csilla in Germany last November there was an small exposition about Schumacher. The entrance was free and the drive not too long. After having a rainy day (full with drunk people due to the start of Carnaval) in Cologne the day before we gave it another chance and headed for Marburg.
Discovering the Medes Islands by Boat
Last day in L’Estartit. The next day we would be leaving again. We still wanted to do the boat trip. So we gave it another shot. We were happy to see the boat was leaving in the morning and would do a full trip (along the coast and around the Medes Islands). We boarded a big yellow boat called the Nautilus and off we went. The nice things about this boat is that is has a glass-bottom with underwater viewing. This makes it possible to see under water (only took some iPhone shots there) and have a look at the flora and fauna. The whole trip took about 1,5 hours and a strong stomach helps. 🙂
A Little Bit About Figueres
We woke up with the idea to have a boat trip in L’Estartit. But we changed our plans when we found out the boat would only do a small tour around the Medes Islands instead of the complete tour due to the heavy wind. So we decided to drive to Figueres and see the town of Salvador Dali instead.
